The Huntington State Beach Lifeguard dates for the tryouts are going to be as follows:

Silverstrand State Beach Saturday, March 8, 2008 @ 0900
San Buena Ventura State Beach Sunday, March 9, 2008 @ 0900
Leo Carillo State Park Saturday, March 15, 2008 @ 0900
Rio Del Mar State Beach Saturday, March 15, 2008 @ 0900
South Carlsbad State Beach Sunday, March 16, 2008 @ 0900
San Clemente State Beach Saturday, March 29, 2008 @ 0900
Refugio State Beach Sunday, March 30, 2008 @ 0900
Monterey State Beach Saturday, April 5, 2008 @ 0900
Crystal Cove Sunday, April 6, 2008 @ 0900


To qualify for the Huntington State Lifeguard Training Program, the requirements are:

1. Pass a COMPETITIVE 1000 yard open water swim with a time limit of 20 minutes.2. Pass a COMPETITIVE [200 yard run - 400 yard swim - 200 yard run] event with a time limit of 10 minutes.3. Pass a qualification appraisal interview.

4. Participate and successfully pass training.

The requirements for being considered as a candidate for the Huntington Beach State Lifeguards is as follows:

1. Must possess a valid California Driver's License with good driving record at time of appointment.
2. Physical strength and endurance.
3. Ability to work weekends and holidays.
4. Must have visual and hearing acuity in order to identify struggling victims in the water.

This is a great opportunity to work at the beach, receive superior training, and be responsible for public safety.This is a fantastic seasonal job, and can lead to a full time career with the state of California.
